Procedure of quantitative processing with AltPaper
- Start up AltPaper
- Click Start → Programs → AltPaper → AltPaper for Word
- You can layout a questionnaire as you like by using Microsoft Word. You can put some choices and columns for description.
- If you have already prepared a Microsoft Word file for your questionnaire, you can arrange it for automatic scanning paper.
- You can print with plain paper from Microsoft Word.
- Paper can be recycled or toned as well as plain.
- You can also use double-sided printing.
- Respondents can write down their answers in handwriting on the printed form.
- Please note that you may have to be careful about using permanent markers, etc. when you take a questionnaire that has double sided printing as they could run through to the other side.
- You can scan and read papers by using a general scanner.
- It requires 150DPI color or gray scale.
- If you try to scan them as image files, please save them as JPEG.
- If you have paper-feed function in your scanner, you can scan 10-50 sheets per minute.
- After scanning papers and uploading data, you can start automatic data scanning.
- AltPaper server scans and processes your uploaded data.
- AltPaper cannot read the memo-section description columns so you have to check the section and input descriptions manually from data to format.
- It wouldn't make you tired because you can input sentences easily by watching descriptions appeared on the screen.
- AltPaper doesn't always recognize markings on the form correctly, so you have to check and modify the data.
- You can check and modify the errors on the interface easily.
- After checking the data, they are processed into some formats which you can handle easily.
- You can choose the kinds of graphs and cross tables, etc.
- Output format is either in Microsoft Excel file or CSV format.
